ABOUT

I'm a freelance fiction editor with nearly two decades of professional experience, including over a decade in-house at Big 5 traditional publishers in Canada.

During my in-house career, I worked as an acquiring editor, where I published debut writers as well as New York Times, USA Today, Globe & Mail, and international bestsellers across multiple genres.

Since launching Michelle Meade Reads, I've worked with hundreds of writers preparing to query literary agents and self-publish. My client roster over the years includes bestselling and award-winning authors such as Mike Chen (New York Times bestselling author of Here and Now and Then and Star Wars: Brotherhood), Karma Brown (bestselling author of Come Away With Me and Recipe for a Perfect Wife), and Hannah Mary McKinnon (author of The Neighbors and Her Secret Son).

I hold a degree in publishing and specialize in developmental editing, editorial assessments, and query letter coaching for fiction writers. My genre specialties include women's fiction, book club fiction, contemporary romance, thrillers and suspense, horror, science fiction, and fantasy.

I put extra emphasis on emotion, character arcs, and story structure. My clients know I'm supportive but honest, and my feedback is designed to guide you through revisions that bring out the best version of your book.
